RCARS Meeting |
The Robeson County Amateur
Radio Society (RCARS) meets the second Monday of each month in the
Emergency Operations Center, and the Robeson County Emergency
Management Office on the corner of 8th and Elm Streets in
Lumberton. A “bring your own” brown bag dinner begins at 6:30 PM
and the meeting begins at 7:00 PM. You don’t have to be a member of
the club, you don’t even have to have to be an amateur, all you need
is an interest in Amateur Radio, so come join us! |

NC HF Nets |
Checking into section nets and handling traffic is fun and helps prepare you for the next emergency. In addition to the many local VHF/UHF nets, there are 7 HF nets to choose from and all welcome newcomers. 7:45 AM, 3.926 MHz Carolina Morning Net (SSB) 6:30 PM, 3.923 MHz Carolina Evening Net (SSB) 7:00 PM, 3.573 MHz Carolina Evening Net (CW 20-22 wpm) 7:00 PM, 3.908 MHz Coastal Carolina Net (SSB) 7:30 PM, 3.923 MHz Tarheel Emergency Net (ARES-SSB) 8:00 PM, 3.695 MHz Carolinas Slow Net (CW 8-10 wpm) 10:00 PM, 3.573 MHz Carolinas Net—Late (CW 15-18 wpm) With all those choices why not try at least one?
With little or no traffic handling experience you can still partake
in the excitement and learn how to take and pass traffic from so of
the best in the state. It is very worth while and easy to learn as
well. There are no tests, just check in and listen, or just listen
for a few nights and check in when you feel comfortable. |
